Baby On Board
Yesterday Bong and I went on an Imus Adventure. We were on our way to see the doctor for a check up in his clinic in the Imus Market area. We usually go to the clinic in DLSUMC in Dasmariñas where my dad works, but since Bong started working already, he can't make it on weekdays. And so Bong and I found ourselves on the road to Imus, Cavite early on a Saturday morning, munching on grilled ham and quezo de bola sandwiches i made for breakfast.

I had never been to the Imus clinic before yesterday. Mari told me to just go straight on Daang Hari and we will end at the Imus Market. When I asked my dad he said that we just had to follow Daang Hari. I asked my mom too, and she said she usually took Carmona coz that's a shorter route, but since I'm not at all familar with the Carmona route, I decided to take Daang Hari. I figured the clinic woudn't be too difficult to find. If you're someone else, that is. My awful sense of direction plus Bong's lack of sleep were no match for the unfamilar territory that is Imus.

So off we went, past the intersection towards Dasmariñas and Molino, just following the road, until we came to the end of the road... Literally. The concrete ended and we found ourselves on a muddy path towards another patch of concrete. Thank goodness Bong brought the CRV that day and not the Accord! So we kept going and found ourselves on Aguinaldo Highway. We stopped and asked for directions towards the market and continued on. We found the Kostal Public Market, Imus, parked the car and started looking for the clinic. When we couldn't find it, I decided to call my mom. She told me to go to the back of the market and look for Deogracia Pharmacy, or something like that, and go up the stairs. We asked around and found out that the place we were in had no second floor. So I called my mom again to try to ask for other landmarks while Bong went and asked a lady if she knows where Deogracia Pharmacy is. The lady Bong spoke to knew exactly where the clinic was, which is lucky coz my mom and I did not understand each other at all. Apparently we weren't even in the Imus town proper yeat, we were in the wrong market, we should have gone further down Aguinaldo highway, and the name of the pharmacy is Pharmacia Gracia. So we went back to the car and drove off again.

We finally found the Pamilihan ng Lungsod ng Imus. At this point we were both getting kinda cranky already. Following my mom's instructions, we followed the road towards the back of the market. We went around the whole complex once and still did not find the clinic or the pharmacy. Bong decided to park the car and look for the place, and I insisted on going with him. So, in my white pants and baby pink sandals, I followed bong through the muddy market. we finally found someone who pointed us in the right direction, a nice tricycle driver. Apparently there are two Pharmacia Gracias in the Imus market, one inside the market complex and one across the street from it. We found the first Pharmacia Gracia, which turned out to be the wrong one, and kept going. Then we finally found what we were looking for, a BIG sign that said Pharmacia Gracia and another above it that said Crisostomo OB-GYN, on a street that we were on maybe 8 minutes earlier. I couldn't believe we missed it. Thinking back, we asked another tricycle driver if he knew where Pharmacia Gracia was, right on that road, almost directly in front of the place, and he said he had no idea. Bong told me that my white pants were no longer white while we walked up the stairs towards the clinic. True enough, I had specks of mud all over my pants. I told him I wasn't expecting to walk through the market when I got dressed that morning.

We walked into the clinic only to find that the doctor wasn't there yet. I had my weight and blood pressure taken, and sat next to Bong in the waiting area. I was patient#26. What a long morning it had already been, and it was only 10:00! I think Bong was a little more tired than I was though.

waiting for the doctor to arrive

The doctor finally arrived and saw three patients then told one of the nurses to send me in. Lucky for me, my doctor is a long time friend of the family so I never have to wait in line very long. The whole Imus adventure was well worth it though, because when it was finally our turn to see the doctor, we got to see, for the first time, the newest addition to our family.
